Structure for Distance (Obstacles)

The first structure Structure for Distance (Obstacles) consists of a series of ‘obstacles’: low sculptural elements that give the idea of a blockage, but also function as an indexing system. Each black-and-white obstacle bears a strip of wood, painted in different bright colours, with slightly coded descriptions of the six historical moments, such as: “Amsterdam, Europe and the colonies, 1571 / Magic Body becoming Work-machine” and “Houston, 1984 / Incarcerated Body becoming Outsourced Body”.
